Grinder malfunction

I accidentally bought the Pro Plus pod, instead of the original grey one, and it got stuck on the first couple of grinds and no longer screws open when I want to change the contents. I went to the Cookery store to see if they could open the pod, and they said I would have to contact the manufacturer directly to solve my problems. I had bought 2 of these.

While I really loved the original grinder and pods and was planning to buy these as gifts for xmas, this experience has changed my mind. And it seems out of character for the Cookery store. I'm not sure if anyone can help correct this, as if pods would function like the original, I would buy a lot more of the originals as gifts - in a heartbeat!
