Alison's Quick Asian Style Marinade

I keep these 'Marinade Basics' ingredients on hand throughout BBQ season.  You can whip it together in the morning, before work, and let the flavours do their work all day!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated 

Method:

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a shallow, airtight, resealable container and whisk well until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Add protein of your choice such as a lb of boneless skinless chicken thighs or a single pork tenderloin. Coat well and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
  3. BBQ on medium heat until it has reached the desired internal temperature.  If using pork tenderloin, cover in foil and allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Feel free to multiply the recipe based on the amount of protein you are preparing.
  • Optional add-in: 1/2 tsp of chili paste for heat
